When carpet needs more than a vacuum
- Traffic lanes that are visibly darker than the carpet beside them.
- A smell that comes back a day after vacuuming, usually from pets.
- Spots that reappear. A stain you cleaned that returns a week later was never removed — it wicked back up from the backing.
- Allergies indoors. Carpet holds dust mites and dander at floor level, which is where children spend their time.
- It has been more than a year. Most carpet manufacturers ask for a professional cleaning every 12 to 18 months to keep the warranty.
How we clean it
- We check the fiber first. Wool, nylon and olefin do not take the same water temperature or the same product. Getting this wrong is how carpet gets ruined.
- Pre-treatment. Traffic lanes and individual spots get the right solution and time to work before anything else happens.
- Hot water extraction. Solution is injected into the pile and pulled straight back out with the soil — not left behind to attract more dirt.
- Odor at the source. Pet odor lives in the backing and the pad. Covering it with fragrance lasts a week; breaking it down lasts.
- Moisture pulled out. The final passes are about water removal, because that is what decides the drying time.
How long it takes to dry
Expect four to six hours before the carpet feels dry, and up to a day before it is fully dry underneath. You can walk on it in clean socks right away. It dries faster with the air conditioning running and the ceiling fans on — the humidity in Central Texas is what slows it down, not the amount of water used.
If someone tells you carpet dries in an hour, they either did not use much water or did not remove much soil.
