Drywall dust is not ordinary dust. It is fine enough to stay in the air for hours, it settles into every horizontal surface including the tops of doors and the inside of light fixtures, and a normal cleaning lifts it back into the room instead of removing it.

Why a regular clean does not work
Wipe a dusty surface with a dry cloth and most of that dust goes into the air and lands again an hour later, somewhere else. That is why a house feels dusty again the day after a renovation clean that was not done properly.
Construction dust has to be captured, not moved: vacuumed with filtration first, then wiped damp, then done again after it has had time to settle out of the air. That is the whole difference, and it is why this takes more than one pass.
The three passes
- Rough clean. Debris, leftover material, stickers and tape off the windows and fixtures, and the bulk of the dust vacuumed out. Usually while trades are still finishing.
- Detail clean. Every surface top to bottom — light fixtures, fan blades, the tops of doors and frames, cabinet interiors, window tracks, vents, baseboards, and the floor last.
- Final touch-up. After everything has settled, right before handover, photos or move-in.
Small renovations often need only the detail pass. A whole build needs all three, and they are scheduled around the trades, not against them.
Rough clean or final clean: which one you need
They are two different jobs at two different moments, and asking for the wrong one is the most common mistake on a build. This is how they differ.
Rough clean — during construction
It happens once the trades have finished the main stages — walls, floors, the main finishes — and before the final details go in: light fixtures, carpet, trim.
- Large debris out: wood, plastic, drywall, nails, construction scrap
- A general sweep of floors, stairs and open areas so the remaining work is not fought through the mess
- Heavy dust off the big surfaces — windows, baseboards, ceilings
- A first pass on the windows to get construction marks off
- Walkable areas cleared so the trades can keep moving
The point is not to make it pretty. The point is to hand the contractors a space they can finish in.
Final deep clean — after construction
It happens once everything is done and the house is about to be handed over or shown, and before any furniture goes in.
- Complete detailing: every area, including corners, edges and the small stuff
- Surfaces: countertops, cabinets inside and out, doors and handles
- Windows polished inside — water marks, fine dust and adhesive off the glass (exterior glass is a separate charge)
- Floors and carpet: mopped, vacuumed, and waxed or deep washed when the floor calls for it
- Bathrooms and kitchen: tile, sinks, appliances, faucets and fixtures
- Fine dust off everything it has settled on — vents, fans and light fixtures included
- A detailed walkthrough before handover

If you are the contractor, book the rough clean first and keep the site workable. If you are the buyer or the owner, what you want is the final deep clean. On a full build you want both, and we schedule them around the trades, not against them.
What we need to know to quote it
- What the work was — a bathroom remodel and a full build are not the same job.
- Whether trades have finished. Cleaning before the last sanding means cleaning twice.
- Square footage and how many floors.
- New flooring already installed? It changes the method and what we can use on it.
- Is there a deadline — an inspection, a handover, a photo shoot.
